Must-Have Items for the Lake
A group of us rented a huge house on Lake Norman through Airbnb for Labor Day Weekend. One of our friends brought his boat, and we all pitched in for the food. Jon and I are no strangers to spending time at a Lake. Jon’s family rents a Lake house every year for a week on Lake Murray. I started going to the Lake with his family 9 years ago. We both love waking up to a water view and spending all day on the boat, and then ending the day cooking out with friends and family. Since we just returned from another wonderful weekend at the lake, I created a list of must-have items to pack for the perfect lake weekend.

1. A Party Float
Every lake weekend deserves some fun and color with a party float. Flamingos are my favorite, but you can also get creative with floats like this and this. They make the perfect photo op, and everyone has more fun with a party float.
2. Stainless Steel Tumblers
These types of cups have become so popular for good reason. They are the best thing to keep your drinks cold in the hot sun. I love that different brands are coming out with a variety of colors at an affordable cost. You can find a few of my favorites here and here.
3. Eye Cream
Early mornings and late nights on the Lake call for an extra strength eye cream. Rodan + Fields multi-function eye cream is a miracle worker for my puffy eyes. Even Jon travels with his own personal eye cream from R+F. If you would like to try it out, contact me at email@example.com. Mention this blog post, and I will give you a $20 rebate when you become a preferred customer.
4. Linen Cover-up
A linen cover-up like the one I wore this weekend gives me major lake vibes. It’s easy to throw on and the colors are very nautical. You can find other cover-ups like this one at the ad below.
5. Oversized Towel
I’m obsessed with this oversized flamingo towel. It’s perfect for a boat since it can accommodate a few people without having to pack several towels. It’s a major space saver which is always great with the limited storage space on boats.
6. Tinted Chapstick with SPF
Having chapped lips is the worst, and it’s something I have struggled with since being diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have to be very careful while in the sun. Besides using R+F lip serum at night, I always use a chapstick with at least 30 spf. I’ve been searching for a tinted nude chapstick for a while, and I finally found it. It’s by Pacifica and I purchased the colors nude and peach. I ordered both off Target.com. Click the ad below and sign up for the RedCard. You will receive free shipping and 5% off all purchases. If you love Target like I do, it’s so worth it.
7. Texturizing Hair Spray
Since recently cutting my hair into a long bob, I’ve had to change up my hairstyle for boat days. This texturizing hair spray is perfect for creating the loose wavy look that I’ve always wanted. It’s very affordable and leaves my hair soft, manageable and frizz free. I then finish it off with this spray to further fight against humidity and this dry oil to add moisture.
8. Smores Kit
Every lake weekend needs a night of roasting smores by the fire. It’s one of our favorite memories with Jon’s family. Our nieces and nephews love it, and it’s an easy dessert to finish off a bbq. You can buy this smores kit here for your next camping trip or lake weekend.
9. Fun Pajamas
Having fun PJs like the one below is perfect for a lake weekend. Waking up to have coffee in your pjs overlooking the water is the perfect start to the morning. It’s nice to have a pair of comfy pjs to lounge in before getting ready for the day. You can find these PJs and others like it at the ad below.
