Are you attending a wedding soon, and are in need of a fresh wedding gift idea? Check out this honeymoon gift basket I created for my friend’s recent wedding. I always try to give gifts that are unique to the couple that is not on the registry. Our favorite gifts from our wedding included the unique and personalized gifts.
Wedding Gift Ideas
For example, we received one gift basket that contained wine for our first year of marriage. Each wine bottle represented the seasons and had a marriage quote attached. Jon and I enjoyed celebrating with each wine bottle and receiving words of wisdom from another successful marriage. I also loved receiving cutting boards with our last name engraved and a personalized wine glass with my new initials. Another idea that I have done for my friends is order a personalized ornament with their engagement date or wedding date from Etsy.
For this gift, I wanted to combine traveling into it. The bride texted me right away for advice when she was planning her honeymoon, so I wanted to give her a basket that included my must-have items when I travel. Jon and I tell everyone that the best part of our wedding was our honeymoon. She talked about their trip to Mexico often during the wedding planning process, so I definitely wanted to focus their gift around the honeymoon. I wanted to gift the wedding gift in advance since the couple would likely not open presents until after the honeymoon. I definitely wanted her to include these products in her travel bag.
Gift Basket Contents
Bikini bag: I purchased this bag from JCPenny for a steal of $5. I love the tropical print, and it’s perfect for packing bikinis or keeping the wet bikinis separate. You can find similar items here at this link.
Beach Towel: I loved this beach towel from Target, but I also found a similar one here and I also own this one and love it! Give me anything teal/salmon or flamingos, and I’m a happy girl. However, I feel like I confused the bride by giving her this. She texted me the week before the wedding and asked “do I need to take a towel to an all-inclusive resort?” Oops, major fail on my part. No, you do not need to pack a towel for an all-inclusive trip. I purchased this towel because I loved it for the bride, and she does live on a lake.
Travel Book: I wanted to purchase a travel book related to the location the couple was traveling to. However, the reviews on books related to Playa Del Carmen were not very good. I instead found this Adult Mad Libs book on Amazon for the couple to have something to do on the plane ride to Mexico. But, I highly recommend any travel book from Fodor’s. I planned most of our Key West trip from this book.
Tropical Candle: I found this awesome tropical candle from HomeGoods that smells just like coconut. You can find similar items at this link here. Even though this is not a travel item, it is something they can use in their home in remembrance of their awesome honeymoon.
Sunless Tanner: I am a consultant for Rodan & Fields and literally became a consultant after falling in love with this sunless tanner. I used it before my latest trip to Miami and could not believe the results. It is very natural looking and so easy to apply. All the self tanners I’ve used in the past leave me orange or streaky. This one is a winner and is actually very affordable. Check out my R+F page or contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in learning more about the products or business.
Deodorant Wipes: I haven’t personally used these yet, but my fitness gurus on Instagram highly recommend them. Definitely going to pick them up before my next trip. What an easy way to freshen up in between the pool, beach and lunch. Find them here!
Dry Shampoo: Literally dry shampoo saved my life on my honeymoon. It seriously saved me so much time where I didn’t have to wash my hair everyday. That way I was spending more valuable time enjoying Jamaica, and my new hubby. It’s my number one must-have item for any vacation. This one can be found here, and is my favorite because of it’s tropical scent.
Miscellaneous Items: These are the miscellaneous items that I find I always use on trips. It includes a mini lint roller, shout out wipes, bug spray (keep the Zika away), travel size sunscreen and make-up wipe removers.
Snacks: Can’t forget the snacks. Everyone needs snacks on the plane or even in their bag for a late night craving. I included three of the bride’s favorite snacks that had a tropical theme.
Basket: I purchased this basket from HomeGoods by the brand Tommy Bahama. All gift baskets should have a container that is useful to the person. The couple can use this basket in their home for storage or as decor. I found a similar version that I love here.
Decorative Items: The cute little banner on the front of the basket came from the Target $1 aisle. I attached it to the basket to declare the honeymoon destination. I also added in tissue paper and other decorative items to fill the basket.
This gift took time and some thinking, but I enjoyed assembling it. Feel free to use this as inspiration for the next wedding, shower or birthday gift you have to give. Until next time, Cheers!
